What usually happens during Halloween — Mom would cook up something for dinner, mainly for us to have some sort of an “alay” for our dearly departed after lighting candles for them. And that’s it. A scary movie or a book is a bonus. But this year became different. After I arrived home from work, my brother told me that we’ll be dressing up for a spooky night. And what an experience it was.
Mom was the first to dress up as a white lady. I then posted a photo of her on Instagram and Twitter. Some replied and liked it! Saying it was hardcore, and that Mom’s such a cool mom to do this. Here it is:
My brothers also dressed up. Joshua as a zombie Harry Potter, and Jeremiah as a dracula.
Juvy, a come-backing “kasambahay” of ours (well, we treat her like the sister we never had actually) dressed up as princess Jasmine who came back to life with an “open” third eye.
And of course, here’s my photo as, well Quasimodo, but most people on Twitter, Facebook and even on Instagram said it was like Kampanerang Kuba haha! Probably because of the hair/wig. 🙂
We had a great time scaring the kids in the neighborhood. Mom was the first one who went outside. The kids went crazy screaming! Haha! Then when it was my turn to scare them, they went berserk! What an experience. But it was difficult to maintain the costume, makeup, especially the wig. Ang init sa ulo! That’s why we took more photos as we could before having dinner.
Suffice it to say, we had fun! I think we’ll be doing this yearly, or probably come up with something different each year. Our first try was not bad, not bad at all. Happy Halloween! 🙂
