Congratulations to our Republic’s 15th President, Benigno Simeon “Noynoy” Aquino III! I hope you lead our sovereign country to the right direction. I know there are a lot of expectations already, but I do hope that you won’t let all the millions of Filipinos who trusted you down. Same goes to our new Vice President, Jejomar Binay. The people have spoken, they all believed in both of you and it’s time to prove them that you can do it. As per my message on my previous post, always keep it right.
I made my vote count. I am now a part of Philippine history, having voted and participated in our country’s first ever automated elections. For the entire twenty seven years of my existence in this mundane world and sovereign country, I voted for the first time. And it felt good, that I was able to finally exercise my right to vote. Proud, in a way, that my single vote can possibly change the lives of many Filipinos. A lot of not-so-good things happened. Many complained. From the malfunctioning PCOS machines to the long lines people have to endure waiting. One can say that we’re really not ready for an automated elections yet. Probably right. But we have to understand, and somewhat foresee, that since we’re dealing with technical stuff, it would somehow be glitch-prone. And mostly, it’s our country’s first time to hold an automated election, so cut COMELEC some slack, please.
Anyway, that’s just me. You can disagree if you want to. What’s important is that, once again, we Filipinos have proved one thing: that we are all united and that we are still hopeful of a bright future ahead of us. And that alone is something we should be proud of.
