Four more days til our Hong Kong trip! Me, my Mom and the twins can’t wait! And as promised, I will post some of my Singapore pics as a teaser for another out of the country trip. Last year, I went to Singapore for a vacation and stayed there for almost two months. That’s quite a long time for a vacation yes, well, that’s because I went there also to look for a job after I resigned from my previous work June of the same year. I took a risk and thought it’s worth the try, since Mom is already there staying with my cousin Girlie to look after her baby. After about a month, a very well-known company offered me a job, but declined it right after they told me to start. Bummer, right? But that’s ok, at least I got to spend a lot of time in Singapore for nearly two months, experienced living there, enjoyed a grand vacation, and most of all, spend my birthday! A lot of firsts, indeed. So no regrets even if my savings got drained out (if there is a lot to speak of, to begin with haha!). What’s important is that I enjoyed and treasured all the memories I had during my entire stay in the Lion City.
So off I went to Singapura July 28 with a distant relative, more like our second cousin Hilda. She will be the one to replace Mom in taking care of Ate Girlie’s baby Viel. It’s our first time to go outside our dear country that’s why we’re both anxious and excited. And the minute we landed, it was surreal! I can’t believe I finally stepped into a foreign land! It also gave me a weird feeling because right at that moment, I am a foreigner (and stayed like that in the next month and a half). And just like a tourist, first few things I did was explore the city. And that’s exactly what Mom and I did for the first 5 days. I had to make the most out of my time with her because she’ll be back in Manila after a week (we even went to Johor Bahru, Malaysia. See previous post). Here are some of our photos roaming around Orchard:
Also had the chance to meet a dear friend and former colleague Pia
I would love to post some other pictures but I don’t want this entry to look like a photo album, that’s why I’ll include the important highlights only. And what better way to start it off? With my 28th birthday! It was a day spent at the Woodlands Town Garden, a festive lunch with penne pasta courtesy of Ate Girlie, then capped it off with some booze. Even though I didn’t get to spend it with friends like the usual, it was still a memorable one because it’s the first time I spent it out of the country.
Next up are my Universal Studios and Merlion Park photos with LT, a friend of mine who also went to Singapore few weeks after I did to watch the Sing Fest. Before that event, we explored the city first for a couple of days and had a blast!

A glimpse of the Marina Bay Sands
There are a lot of other photos of me roaming around Singapore but of course I won’t post them all here. The ones above will suffice, I believe, in telling that I did enjoy my stay in Singapura. I’ve met a lot of new friends, was able to go in and around the city, and had the time of my life. In the process, I also learned a lot. I really hope to be back soon, hopefully to finally work there. I guess last year was just not my time to work overseas. Who knows, my luck will smile in a different country? Anyway, in a few days time, I will be in another country this time not only with Mom but with my twin brothers as well! It would be our first out of the country family trip that’s been about two years in the making. For sure it will be another memorable trip!
I just hope I won’t be lost in Hong Kong though. 🙂
