Humility is a trait you would rarely get from fighters, even from ordinary people who thinks or assume they have already achieved a lot and are greater than anybody else. What Sugar Shane Mosley tweeted the last week was an act Filipinos find so sweet as he humbly, and with respect, professed his thoughts about his upcoming fight with Pacquiao in Tagalog. Well at least he tried, and that’s what made it so cute and sweet. I know we are kind of used to the bashing and trash-talking from Pacman’s opponents or even some random people out there it’s like feeling and actually taking all the jabs and upper cuts altogether, that’s why Sugar Shane is such a breath of fresh air. This is something new to us Pinoys.
I think what he meant here is that he won’t belittle a Filipino fighter and he will respect his/the spirit (of fighting, I’d like to believe).
“Sending some love and respect to the people of the Philippines”
“I am looking forward to a good and clean fight. I am excited.”
“Filipino people gave me lots of love today. Thank you.”
And with that, you have truly earned the love and respect of the Filipino people, Mr. Mosley. We wish you and Pacman the best on your upcoming bout. You are already a winner in the hearts of many Pinoys. Mabuhay ka!
