Weddings never fail to make me smile and feel good. Somehow, it’s making me realize that love, or should I say true love, really do exist. Not that I don’t believe in love, but weddings are like ray of hope telling you that in this cruel world, love can truly make a difference and it can conquer all. For a man and a woman to go through all the preparations, the stress and all, just to exchange vows and words of love and tell and the whole world that you are ready to spend forever with someone is definitely something. And what better way to do all this and make it more special than on Valentine’s Day. Yes, that’s exactly what we witnessed last Monday, February 14th, 2011, as my dear friend John Joseph, or Jay as what our group of college friends fondly call him, tied the knot with Mel. Truly, nothing can ever be sweeter than that day, as two hearts became one in the day of hearts and overflowing love.
The wedding ceremony will start at 2:30PM but me and my friends Niña and Michelle went over Malayan Plaza, Ortigas at around 10AM to prepare early. We’re all excited, you can tell. It’s our first time to attend a wedding on a Valentine’s day. So we just stayed at the hotel for about 3 hours while the girls get all made up and I watch cable TV. Around 1:30PM when all of us were ready, we all eagerly made our way to Our Lady of Miraculous Medal Parish in Quezon City.

And so the wedding march started. One by one, pair by pair, we walked down the aisle. And when Mel, the bride, entered the church and made her way to the other end where her love awaits her, my friend Jay started to cry. It seriously melted my heart. Overwhelmed by his feelings, I believe. But apart from that, I think it has got to do with the moment – this moment that they’ve all been waiting for for years, after all the hardships and some struggles. That fleeting moment struck me. I don’t know but I guess I’ll also cry when that moment “finally” arrived. I know it’s difficult to attach emotions on special days like weddings, but one can’t help but do so, especially if you have longed and prayed for it. I’m just so happy and proud of this couple. For years, I’ve seen them love and accept each other then gradually they grow and became better person, still with the help of each other, and I think that’s what matters most.
Three Popoys and the newlyweds
So to Mel & Jay, may your love for each other continue to prosper and grow, and may it endure everything that may come your way. Do take care of each other. I know you will create a happy and lovely family. I may not be the best person to ask for love or relationship advise, but you know that you can count on me anytime. I wish you, and also your cute little Pia, all the best. Marriage life is not always a smooth ride, so whenever you feel like something heavy is burdening you, never forget to lift them all up to our Almighty GOD. I love you both! Keep in touch always.
