I was able to watch it sometime last week, and I just couldn’t stop raving. The story, the characters, the acting, the sentiments, basically everything in this film is A+. No, I am not exaggerating things here. Films nowadays can amaze or wow you, yes, but Up In The Air would make you beg for more. It is well written, well played, and true in its essence of literally making you feel “up there”. It’s the level of elation I am feeling during and after watching it. Man, this film’s the bomb!
Clooney was addicting. Of all the roles I’ve seen him play, I believe Ryan Bingham is his best yet. I am not a fan, so I wouldn’t know all the characters he has played but yeah, he’s fantastic here. His deep voice, his captivating eyes, his earnest manner of acting will get you hooked here. And I just love how effective he played the role. He’s now a favorite.
The ladies were equally amazing. Anna Kendrick is annoying at times, but pleasantly annoying haha! I like the part where she cried to George after she got dumped. It’s like she really felt it, and it was so real. Vera Farmiga, on the other hand, is gorgeous. I have one word to describe her acting: SEXY! I mean, that deep set eyes of hers, the lingering moves, and the way she connected with Clooney is just so… sexy! I love her!
This film, too, is so quotable. I should’ve took down all the great ones but here’s some I remember:
> Ryan: “You know why kids love athletes?”
Bob: “Oh cause they screw lingerie models.”
> “The slower we move, the faster we die.”
> Alex to Ryan: “I thought our relationship was perfectly clear. You are an escape. You’re a break from our normal lives. You are a parenthesis.”
> Ryan: “You know that moment when you look into somebody’s eyes and you can feel them staring into your soul and the whole world grows quiet, just for a second?”
Ryan: “Right. Well, I don’t.”
Natalie: “You’re an asshole.”
There are a lot more, and I could even had it memorize. Just give me a week or so haha! I have seen it twice and I wouldn’t mind if it’s the last movie left in this mundane world, I’d still watch it over and over again. Ok, maybe that’s a little too much but that’s how really great this film is. Go catch it soon! 🙂
