A rave-worthy Tuesday

20 08 2009

Just last Tuesday, August 17th around 6am, Mom and I went to Cardinal Santos Medical Center in Greenhills and visited my pamangkin who was rushed the day before because of asthma. Something to rant about, yes, but he’s all well now so back to all-rave mode. I initially thought of bringing my mp3 handy so that I can still listen to The Morning Rush, since I’d just be killing time at the hospital. Good thing there’s a landline in my pamangkin’s room so I got to contact RX.  So here goes my rave list for that day:

kylaHF062-1* I got to talk to Delamar over the Monster hotline and requested for a song. And what a great song it was! Kyla’s newest, titled You Make Me Feel! I instantly fell in-love with it. Kyla rocks big time! I miss her!

* Chico was able to air my greetings. The one where I specially mentioned my pamangkin who’s sick at that time. After a while, I heard my name again and this time it was my entry being included at the Top 10. Topic was “Things you’d do if you can travel through time”. Medyo kulang nga ata yung nabasa ni Chico on air hehe, but it’s alright. Still happy that my entry was included!

* And just when I thought it ends there, I eventually slept with a smile on my face because my dear Gelli Victor chose me as one of the winners for the Avatar 20minute preview! I just tried joining and lucky enough that my text message was picked out of the handful who wanted to win.

* In between all these, there’s cable! I indulged myself surfing channels and watching Jeopardy, Dude Where’s My Car?, and even Me and Ninja Liit. Seeing Roderick Paulate in drag, and also the cute little Aiza Seguerra is nostalgic! Yes, I practice multitasking in its utmost level. Watching tv, listening to the radio, trying to join in for promos, talking to Mom and reading a newspaper. How cool is that?

See, it wasn’t bad at all even though I ended up having just barely 4hours of sleep that day. I made it to wake up at 6pm to go back home with Mom, take a bath and change for my 8pm shift. Whew! indeed haha =) But yeah, I was raving big time! Here’s the Avatar trailer. Well, it doesn’t have clips from the actual movie I think, but it made me more excited for the preview. It’ll be on Monday the 24th over at SM North IMAX cinema. Yey!

A Rainy Birthday

9 08 2009

It always rains on my birthday. I remember even when I was a little kid celebrating, most of them days were raining. Not that I’m complaining, I am a rain person. This year was extra special, even though some of my friends failed to make it, because aside from the pouring rain on the day of my celebration, our place got a bit flooded. And what made it special? My friends had a great time crossing our flooded block! I was actually quite hesitant if I’ll still celebrate because of some budget constraints, a denied leave, and of course the rain. But despite of all those considerations, I  pushed through with it and very glad that I did. It was such a blast!

The first of August, some time last week, was indeed a memorable one. Around 5pm, I attended my friend’s cute little kid’s first birthday over at Hungry Juan’s (where I also ordered food for my party). After that, I claimed my order then hurried back home. The rain just kept on pouring and I couldn’t help but wonder if my friends will still be able to join me for the rest of the night. But luckily they did, and I was just so thankful for their effort in coming despite the bad weather. Here are some of our wet but fun pics!

With all these great friends coming over, brave enough to weather any storm or flood, who wouldn’t want to celebrate every year? I’m just so blessed to have another year journeying with amazing people who made my life worth celebrating. And probably the rain has got to do a lot about this. You know what they say that it’s a blessing when it rains on your birthday? That’s how it is, I think. As a friend quoted, “Babahain ka din ng blessings nyan!” And with that note, let me que in James Morrison’s Please Don’t Stop The Rain.

Mourning Yellow

4 08 2009

Philippines AquinoIt’s sad that my very first entry for this month, after a long while, would be about death. Death that may be correlated to the color yellow nowadays. Despite of the color’s brightness, I am pretty sure that yellow is now mourning but will later on be a symbol of life, peace, and happiness. It still is, I know. But I won’t discuss death and its dark or sometimes creepy side, rather I’ll try to focus more on celebrating the life of a great person(not in detail, of course). An iconic woman known to Philippine history as the Mother of Democracy. The late President Corazon Cojuangco Aquino.

I am not much of a politics person, but I am aware of her contributions to our sovereignty. I was around 4 or 5 years old at the time of  People Power and I had vivid memories of how it was during those days. Yes I wasn’t mature enough or at all at that time, but I later realized how important her role became. Especially at this latter part of her political career where she asked GMA to step down. Ok, I’m actually running out of words to say here because I am already sleepy, so as much as I want to express more, this would probably sound like I am sugarcoating or patronizing or just merely joining the bandwagon. To say the least, I am really really proud that a Filipino like her still exist in this mundane world, and it’s a relief to know that as a fact. Sad in a way, too. Because we lost a great hero, and I just can’t help but sympathize with the family. Well now that she’s gone, I am sure that she’ll be forever in people’s heart and that her name will forever be greatly etched in our history.

Rest In Peace, Tita Cory.
