My New Baby

19 07 2009

I bought an Ipod Nano last week. I know it was totally unplanned but it’s very tempting! The offer and the installment basis of payment actually is more tempting.  I was planning to save up for my birthday, I thought I wouldn’t give in and take it. But my very understanding dear officemate offered me something I can’t even resist. That’s why after contemplating about it for a day, I rested my case and indulged in taking the 16G Ipod Nano.  Which me and my brothers are enjoying a lot!

Since the sister of my friend who sold it to me already used it for around three months, it has lots of music and movies stored. I already watched two of the many movies, and enjoying the great music, too. Good thing we have the same taste, at least. It would really be nice if my personal songs were in there too, but I won’t be downloading the Itunes application just yet. Our computer is sitll acting up nowadays.

So there, I know we’ll have great time together. I just hope we’ll be able to have our computer reformatted real soon so that I can download songs I really really love. I’ll be making a list of those songs, I have a lot in mind now. This is such an early but nice birthday present for myself, isn’t it? =)

Not half-excited

11 07 2009

Because if I were to measure my excitement about the new Harry Potter movie, a scale of 1 – 10 wouldn’t even suffice. Just a few moments ago, not even an hour, I just finished reading (finally) Half-Blood Prince and I just can’t help but be amazed. JK Rowling is such a genius! It just keep on getting better, I tell yah. Well, this is not a review of the book but merely an expression of gratitude that I was able to be in a world, I think, no one had dared think of but Ms. Rowling.  And I could never be any happier, had I not purchased a set of HP books few months back. Yes, I made it to read all six just in time for the new movie set to open on July 16 here in the Philippines. Oh, I can’t wait! July is indeed Harry Potter month, aside from it being my birth month, and me sharing the same birthday with JK and Harry! Something to brag about haha! Anyway, here’s one of the many trailers I’ve checked out in YouTube.

See you at the cinemas!! :D

Raving Reviews 9

5 07 2009

Wow, I didn’t know this one’ll become the 9th installment for my review posts until I checked the Archives. Anyway, here are my say about the movies & series I’ve watched, and book/s I got to read over the past month or so. Well, minus Harry Potter books 5 & 6. Just felt lazy to make a review for them, I guess. All these are originally posted on my Multiply page.

Megan Fox is love! Is the toe thumb rumor true, though? But whattaheck, I still love her! Oh how I envy Shia!

And Bumblebee!! I love her!! Ang cute nya umiyak hehe… I also like the lolo Decepticon who offered Optimus to use his parts… Galeng!!

Sobrang astig din yung soundtrack syempre. Greenday’s 21 Guns is such a killer! And also The Fray, Hoobastank, Staind, and of course Linkin Park! Whoa!

What can I say, I just so looove this show! Good thing I decided to buy its first season one time I went somewhere (make a wild guess). Been hearing good chuckstuff about it from some of my tweetmates that’s why I thought giving it a try won’t hurt. And true enough, it was one helluva series! Everything about it is just greeaaat!

The story’s really interesting, and they make it seem real and believable. The characters were downright funny. Chuck really aces at this part, for me his acting’s the bomb. And yes, of course, my new girlfriend, the love of my life, Yvonne Strahovski!! Oh my, I just so l♥♥♥♥ve her!!! Hot, sexy, kickin’ ass here and there. I really envy Chuck. He also got to kiss her, dang!

I once tweeted and asked why does Chuck has to star hot and sexy ladies. Sarah Lancaster, who played Chuck’s sister, is also to die for! So, why then? Why?

I want more of this show! It’s so freakin’ addicting! Season 2 is comin up real soon.

“Well, the facts are these – Paul Ignatius is 26 years, 11 months, 3 weeks and 2 days old when he learned about this amazing show curiously titled Pushing pushingdaisiesDaisies. Amusing is probably more apt, as he often find himself in a state of elation everytime it’s being played on tv.”

Ok, that’s the most I can come up with to start this review haha! That’s how usually the narrator begins the show, not every episode though, and it most of the time reminds me of a movie I love, Amelie. But aside from that, Pushing Daisies is indeed one great show. I super super love it! To quote a blog/review I have stumbled upon, “It was charming, funny, heartfelt, inventive, and visually brilliant. And I loved every minute of it.”

True enough, I loved every minute of it. The story is undeniably interesting, and the characters were hilariously amazing. I just so love Ned (Lee Pace) and Chuck (Anna Friel), but on the other hand can’t imagine myself living with the one I love who I can’t even touch. Sad, but that’s just one of the show’s factor I learned to love the most. The idea is quite disturbing, but they made it seem more easier to absorb.

Detective Emerson Cod is one funny guy, too. Played by Chi McBride of Boston Public (I miss this show), it was like seeing another side of him, the funny side. And can I just say that Olive (Kristin Chenoweth) here is such a sweet, lovable, naive and funny girl I started to hate at first (because of her voice) but eventually learned to love. She’s very warm, receptive and extremely hilarious.

Anyway, I know I have much more to say about Pushing Daisies but I’d rather stop and look for the second season dvd. I hope I can find one with complete episodes. I heard it was cut short and that ABC stopped airing it last year. But it won’t change the fact that a lot of people loved it, myself included of course, and that we’ll all just hope to see more of Lee Pace and Anna Friel in the near future.

Watched this last Saturday with KC and Oscar, my new movie buddies haha! Hmmm, where do I start? Ok, nakakagulat sya pero for me, hindi masyado drag-me-to-hell-poster-560x829nakakatakot. I’d still go for the Asian type of horror movies. Nice yung story but still parang may kulang.

Almost half the time I felt like throwing up. Madami din kasing yucky moments hehe! And funny moments, too. The goat scene tops my list for this one, specially when it started to talk like a possessed one.

I’m not much of a movie critic but the music score actually helped a lot. Magugulat ka talaga sa ibang scenes because of the musical score. And you’d somehow feel na nakakatakot talaga. But all in all, ok naman sya. Probably it’s just me, kaya di ko masyado nagustuhan. The creepy, takot factor, I mean. Or probably I expected a lot from this movie, since I’ve been hearing good stuff before its opening. Ok, I don’t know what to make up of this review haha! Bangag na ko.

Basta lesson learned: Wag na magtrabaho sa bank, or maging credit/loan adviser haha! :D

Author: Bob Ong
My brother was the one who bought a copy last week, and I was able to read it in a few hours, maiksi lang naman. I took a break from reading Harry Potter for the meantime, and thought of giving Bob Ong’s new one a try. Been a long time since his last book, and yes, I’m a fan of his. I have all his 6 books.

Well, this new one Kapitan Sino, I don’t know if I just didn’t get its message (coz autoscale-110I am sure there is, somewhere there hidden), or probably because minadali ko magbasa. I didn’t liked it that much. Maganda yung umpisa, the ending so so. But yeah, siguro nga it’s just me. I’ll probably read it again and edit this review.

Kapitan Sino is much like a novel (if that’s the correct term) that sets apart from his usual funny ones. Just like MacArthur, the first Bob Ong book I’ve read, which I really really love. I hate to compare, but I just can’t help it haha! I know it’s two entirely different story. But I liked his attack on the what we call “masa” people. I know most readers can relate with those tv shows, commercials, and food brands he mentioned on the book. Reminiscent of those good old days.

And that’s what I like about Bob Ong. I can so relate to his stories and stuff. So I guess I’d still count Kapitan Sino as one of a good book one should read.

The June Ride, part 2

3 07 2009

I really intended to have a second part for this specific post, because the month of June still isn’t done when I did the first installment for the June Ride. And now, time to cap off the crazy month I just had.

Soul Sessions. It’s our dear friend Kid Camaya’s (Pinoy Idol top 4) album launch last week, June 27th to be exact, and it was a success! We’re just so proud of him, and really positive that he’ll have a great career ahead. What’s more, our group of friends were all included in his album’s thank you message. Sweet! We then had a blast at the after party at Club Industry. The DJ did a great job in mixing and spinning music such as Michael Jackson, Lady Gaga, Craig David, Beyonce, PCD, Black Eyed Peas and many more. We had a swell time!

Kid 058 Kid 060 Kid 068

Crashing at The Show. After having a blast at Kid’s launch, as if we’re not contented, we then dragged ourselves to the RX booth haha! Well, the visit’s actually a planned one, because Enzo promised me he’ll give me a copy of his Spanish modules (in audio format) that’s why I made sure to dropby after the launch. And so we did, and what a way to call it a day! Fun indeed! Specially when Arden did his scandal haha!

Kid 072 Kid 075 Kid 076

transformers_ver7Invaded. The next day, as if we’re not contented again, my two remaining buddies that gimik weekend Nhinz and Chelle suddenly wanted to watch Transformers. So I was like, are you both serious? But who am I not to give in? I love the first one and I thought the second one’ll be equally good. And yes, we enjoyed it! So much that I am seeing it again tomorrow. This time with two other friends and my twin brothers. Yeah, that’s how I liked the movie.

The Michael Jackson Hangover. I guess most are still not over this one. Or probably some still can’t seem to fathom the mere idea of the untimely death of The King Of Pop. Well, same here. I’ve been tweeting lyrics of some of his songs, posting status about him, taking quiz on Facebook about him and his songs, putting his songs on repeat mode in my player. Even our neighbors are still strucked; I’ve been hearing most of them play Jacko songs every morning, out loud. It just goes to show, proving further, that his music will live on and he’ll stay in our hearts forever. He led a sad enough life, so let’s try not to be sad on his death. Instead, let us all celebrate his music. Here’s a tribute montage from YouTube, one of the many I liked. This one’s much better with his song Man In The Mirror.
