100 Songs That Shaped My Life

30 05 2009

Was tagged by my friend Arden on Facebook. It’s about making a list of a hundred songs to save your life/for your future offsprings. He actually got tagged as well, and from the looks of it, they all got it from a quite interesting blog. Long story, so just click HERE for the whole story behind it.

I twisted it a bit, though. I instead made it the Top100 Songs that shaped my life. It’s not that I don’t want to make a list for my future offspring, but I thought it would be more fun to list down songs that you really enjoyed listening to during your early years…

So below are the songs that shaped, so far, this seemingly boring 26 years of my life. The ones I remember singing along with back then as a child and now as a not-so-young loveless adult haha! Raving Reviews 8

25 05 2009

Ok, so Kris Allen won. The debates were still searing, even Clay Aiken had his say about all this. But I won’t discuss that on this post. Still can’t over Kris’s victory, yes, but I’ve had enough of those rants about him too. I will instead post some overdue reviews I had this past few months. From my Muliply, of course. It has been ages since I posted reviews here!

How often does a horror film make one cry? Not always the case, I’d assume. thehauntingpostergp2But yeah, this movie made me cry. Sa ending. Probably because I really felt that it really happened, or the movie was made to make you feel that way. It was surprisingly good.

I actually didn’t know much about this film. I once saw the trailer, but missed the part that it was based on actual events. My friends and I initially planned to watch Fuschia one Saturday night after celebrating Arden’s birthday. But I don’t know why they all chose The Haunting in Connecticut instead. My pareng Nhinz was the one who suggested it.

What I like about the movie is that it’s not the typical horror film made to scare its viewers. There is a great story and you’d somehow get engrossed with it. I’m actually not much of a fan of American horror movies, I’d go for Japanese/Koreans and the like. That’s why I’m kind of surprised while watching this one.

Aside from the ending, the part that really struck me were those old pictures. So eerie, those faces! Waaahh! It can haunt you on your sleep hehe! All in all, I liked it. Might buy a dvd copy soon for the twins to watch. They’re so into horror flicks.

Oh, I love the quote Virginia Madsen said towards the ending. That God works in mysterious ways. I just forgot the entire quote hehe!

If there’s one thing I totally didn’t regret doing, it’s buying the HP set about a 1820-1month ago. Even though it equates to shelling out a bit of a sum of money, it all boils down to liking it all and loving every bit of those books. HP and the Prisoner of Azkaban would never ever be an exception.

I love this one, to the bits! It just keeps on getting better, I tell yah! I really can’t remember the movie version but, ok, I’ll focus on the book of course. The story’s amazing, the characters are very revealing and unforgettable, the pacing is just spot on! I couldn’t help but flip through the pages, my eyes hurting and fingers burning.

My favorite part? A lot, actually. When Harry, at Hogsmeade, found out a lot of things about his father. I was like, also gasping while reading it! Also when they (Harry, Hermione, and Ron) found out about the Marauder’s Map, and that Sirius, Pettigrew and Harry’s dad were friends before; and the trailing truth about who’s to blame about Harry’s parents death. That was just so intense! And of course, when Hermione and Harry turned back time, saved the hippogriff’s and Sirius’s lives. Waaah, ang galeeeng!!

I might watch the movie version later, same with The Chamber of Secrets. Sort of a marathon. Basta, I love this book so much! And I’ll start the fourth book later as well. Ha! :d

I haven’t read the book, as much as I wanted to before watching the film version, but I liked it. Got to watch it last Thursday w/a friend, and we both angelsanddemons_11enjoyed it. Action packed, fast paced. Every minute is full of excitement, amusing facts, and yes questions. You’d wonder if those things are actually happening. Religion is really this interesting. It’s a plus if you’re Catholic. I’m not, but still I enjoyed it.

I didn’t get to watch DaVinci Code. This one’s its prequel, I think. For the book, at least. A friend told me Angels & Demons (the book) is way better than The DaVinci Code, that’s why I opted to watch it. And since I haven’t read any of the books, nothing of that disappointed feeling coz I’ve nothing to compare it with. But with or without the book, I think the movie was done beautifully. Ron Howard did a great job.

Tom Hanks did great, too. At one point though I was like questioning how good he is playing his role. I later realize he’s playing as a Symbologist. Or Symbolist? Something like that. Ewan Gregor was brilliant! I have never seen him act this great. Well, I’m not much of a fan of his, but yeah, I loved him in this movie.

Overall, 4 stars. I just love how the movie was made, na talagang naapreciate ko sya even though di ko napanood ung DaVinci. I want an Illuminati ambigram as a tattoo!! haha! :D

And finally, the most rave worthy of all, American Idol Season 8 grand 0000057351_20090520220002winner KRIS ALLEN!!! Told yah, I still can’t get over it. Let me end this quoting what I have posted on Multiply.
And now that it’s official, I together with the rest of those who got ALLENIZED (love Paula’s term) can rejoice all we want!!! I’m just soooo happy that he won!!! Been hearing some stuff that Adam was the deserving one, but hey, it’s already finished and the American nation has already spoken. They all preferred the acoustic rocker against the glam rocker, the guy next door against the guyliner. Adam’s got a great great future ahead of him, anyway. And so does Kris, of course. Way to go!!! This was such an amazing season!! And the finale was just WHOAH!!! Unbelievable!! Ok, nuff said. I’ll shut up now. Congrats, KRIS!!! :D

Who’s it gonna be??!

20 05 2009

Ok, that’s the most I can make out of the new header. Still too giddy about this season’s finale, I thought of changing it. We just watched the performance night, and I’ll stand by my choice Kris Allen! Adam’s the bomb, yes, but I don’t know, I just had this feeling that Kris will win this. I know he wasn’t even in my original top3 choices (posted some time ago), but now that it’s down to him and Adam, I really would want the former to win. And yes, I hated Gokey the last few weeks! That’s why I was happy that he didn’t make it haha! :D

So I guess we’ll just have to prolong the agony and wait until tomorrow. I can’t freakin’ wait! Mind you, I even filed for a leave just for the Finale ;) Was actually thinking of having an Idol holiday with my AI freak friends, where we’ll watch it in one place together, but too bad the mere idea isn’t even feasible. So I’ll just enjoy it with my sibs, then. I don’t think I will be able to sleep tonight haha! :D

Whoever wins, I’m ok. I wasn’t rooting for a specific one since day 1 and I both like the remaining two. I’d just be happier if Kris Allen will emerge as the grand winner. But, again, whoever it is, I’m totally cool. It has been a great season! And before we end this day, let’s hear them plead for votes:

Mom’s Day

10 05 2009

happy_mothers_day

to all the moms out there!! :D

We always have a Mother’s Day and birthday celebration for Mom every year. Mom’s birthday always fall on Mom’s week, never fails (of course!) And this year was extra special and super fun! My stepdad included lots of military/army garments in his package last week, then mom right away thought of wearing those on her birthday. And yeah, we all did! It was our first time to have a sort of a theme party haha! We all had a swell time, and Mom just can’t stop laughing during the pictorials hahaha :D Anyway, here are some of the pictures:

Was actually hesitant to buy that cake, but I was like “What the heck, it’s Mother’s Day!”, and mom liked it! I just requested to include Happy Birthday at the bottom. So, there. We really enjoyed Mom’s birthday. It was, I think, one of the best celebration we had in years.

Happy Birhtday again and Happy Mother’s Day, Ma! We love you to the bones!! :D

Hooray for Pacquiao!!

The whole Filipino nation rejoiced anew as our Pambansang Kamao gained another victory in his recent bout, this time with Ricky Hatton. It is one of this year’s major event in Sports, as the whole world awaits the one on one fight between the two. But never did I thought, and I think I’d be speaking with the entire mundane world, that it would end on the 2nd freakin’ round! Wow. Pacquiao is indeed amazing! No wonder he’s considered the world’s best pound-for-pound fighter. Prior to watching it (a delayed telecast, at that) I confirmed the news thru Twitter and LA Times. I was at the edge of my seat when the second round started, and barely a minute left I was like, “Where’s the Pacquiao moment?!” And there it is, at the last ten seconds. Tsug! Just like that. Geez, as what Mariah Carey tweeted after watching the fight, “Unbelievable!” He’s undoubtedly a source of pride for every Pinoys here and around the world.

Again, Mabuhay ka, Manny! (I realized that this is my Nth blog about him haha!) Inuman na! Itumba na yan! :D
